About Fudge
Fudge is a type of sweet or candy, which is usually extremely creamy, rich and often flavored with cocoa to create a chocolately taste.
Fudge orinates from the United States where it has become a favorite candy among thousands of people.
Many of the cities in Northern Michigan have become famous for making slab fudge. This particular type of fudge is made by pouring ingredients onto large marble slabs and working by hand. Over many years, fudge has become the island's primary industry, with approximately 10,000 pounds of this delicious candy being sold on a daily basis.
Tourists flock to the area and are affectionately known as "fudgies" by local residents who, on Mackinac Island, hold a "Fudge Festival" once a year during the month of August.
Fudge is also popular in the UK with traditional English fudge being made across the South West, with Devon, Cornwall, and sometimes Dorset the main counties involved.
